Where is My Refund? - February 2004
To find out if the IRS received your return and whether your refund was processed and sent to you visit the "Where’s My Refund" section of the Internal Revenue Service web site.
To access your refund status for your personal Federal Tax Refund, you'll need to provide the following information as shown on your return:

Your Social Security Number (or IRS Individual Taxpayer Identification Number)

Your Filing Status, (Single, Married Filing Joint Return, Married Filing Separate Return, Head of Household, or Qualifying
Widow(er))

The Refund amount (It is important to enter the refund amount exactly as it is shown on your return in order for our computer system to retrieve your data)

To inquire about the status of your Massachusetts personal income tax refund, visit the Massachusetts Department of Revenue Refund Status Web Site.
You will need to provide the following information to receive the status of your refund:

Your social security number,

The tax year for which the refund was requested

Your requested refund amount

As an example, for returns that were e-filed with direct deposit on February 9th, it took the following days to be wired tax refunds from the IRS & Massachusetts Department of Revenue:
Refunds would be significantly longer without BOTH e-filing & direct deposit.
