CMS recently released an evaluation of its recovery efforts by contractor, which provides recovery statistics through June 2008.
The evaluation indicates the benefits of such RAC audits, publicizing RAC determinations as follows:
- 525,000 claims with overpayment determinations
- 103,000 claims that providers appealed of which 35% of such claims were overturned in the providers favor
